Step One: Create a eCareer Profile

Creating a career profile on the USPS website is the first step applicants must complete. This will start the hiring process and trigger your personal assessment questionnaire, which will be delivered via email.

Step Two: Search for Available Jobs

You can search for available postal jobs on the USPS website, or use our job search tool on this website. We simplify the process by using your zip code and creating job alerts to let you know when jobs come available.

Step Three: Take the Postal Battery Exam

Every applicant is required to take either the postal exam 473, 474, 475 or 476. Each exam is specific to the position you are applying too. Taking the Postal Battery Exam is the most important part of the hiring process. A passing score is 70, but in order to receive an invitation to the interview you will need to score in the high 80’s to 90’s. You can only take the exam once every 4 months, so it is important to do well the first time.

Step Four: Prepare for the Interview

The final step of the hiring process is the interview. Only the top 3 scores from each testing class receive an invitation for a face to face interview. This section will give you an idea on what to expect at the interview.
