The First Step of the Hiring Process
Covers Creating Your Career Profile
Your Career Profile with the Federal Government
The Civil Service Career profile application is to be completed on the USAJobs.gov website and can take up to an hour to complete. Before starting, find a quiet location and make sure you are using a desktop computer. You will need all your previous employment and experience information available to complete the application. You will have to create an account online, this requires a valid email address to set up the account. It is recommended you don’t use a .gov, .mil or .edu email address. Instead, you should use a non-government email address. Applicants are not allowed to create multiple profiles, so make sure you use an email address to ensure you receive all communication. You will be able to save your application if needed to complete at a later time. Your Career profile provides the Federal Government with your previous work experience, physical capabilities and educational background.
